Before the establishment of a local parish, Greek Orthodox Christians in Long Beach received services through the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America via Annunciation Church in Los Angeles. Visiting priests would travel periodically to serve sacraments for the growing community.

1933

Early Beginnings

Local Greek families recognized the need for a permanent Orthodox presence in Long Beach. This led to the creation of a Hellenic school, helping future generations retain both their faith and cultural identity.

1937

The Community Receives Its Charter

On October 4, 1937, the community was officially granted a charter, marking a defining moment in the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church Long Beach history.

Land Purchased in Long Beach

75th Anniversary of the Parish Community

The community celebrated 75 years of parish life. Historical records preserved through decades of transitions, including church relocations, continue to document the rich legacy of the parish.
